A night of political shocks has seen a number of high profile figures lose their seats in the House of Commons.

Here's who has suffered defeat so far:

  • Former First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond

Former SNP leader Alex Salmond lost his Gordon seat to the Conservatives.
  • Former Lib Dem leader and deputy prime minister Nick Clegg

Former deputy PM Nick Clegg lost to Labour in Sheffield Hallam.
  • Junior government minister Jane Ellison

Jane Ellison, who served as public health minister, was defeated by Labour's Marsha de Cordova in Battersea.
  • SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson

Angus Robertson lost his Moray seat to Conservative Douglas Ross.
