WhatsApp power outage leaves millions unable to chat

Millions of WhatsApp users were left without service after the messaging service suffered a global power outage.

The app stopped working at around 9pm UK time on Wednesday leaving people unable to send or receive messages.

Users in Europe, America, South America were affected, according to data gathered by Down Detector.

The outage lasted for around almost three hours and users reported it was up and running again by 11.30pm.

Hundreds of users took to Twitter to share their frustration.

And it wasn't long before the gifs and memes came out.
