Exxon Mobil boss Rex Tillerson expected to be named Trump's Secretary of State

Donald Trump is expected to name the chief executive of Exxon Mobil as his Secretary of State, NBC News reported.

The president-elect is said to be meeting with Rex Tillerson later on Saturday to discuss the job as the top diplomat in the country.

Oil boss Tillerson has close business links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The 64-year-old has spent his entire career at Exxon Mobil which he became president of in 2004.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had reportedly been in the running.

But Giuliani said on Friday he had taken his name out of consideration.

Two sources close to the transition process told NBC News nothing is final until Trump officially announces it, likely next week.

Trump's campaign was unavailable for comment.
