Toddler with Down's Syndrome lands modelling job

A toddler with Down's Syndrome has won a modelling job with a children's retailer - after initially having his photos rejected.

Sixteen-month-old Asher Nash has appeared in the holiday campaign for children's brand Oshkosh.

It comes after an agency looking for children to appear in the adverts refused to submit his photos to the company because "the criteria didn't specify they were looking for a baby with special needs."

His mother, Meagan, 27, used Facebook to encourage brands to include people with disabilities in their advertising.

The post was shared over 100,000 times and picked up widespread media coverage.

Asher and his mum met with Oshkosh in November where they were thanked for bringing their awareness to the issue.

Meagan says it is important that adverts feature people with special needs because it helps with acceptance, respect and inclusion.

She told ITV News: "Using people with special needs shows the world that these people have value and worth just like any typical person does."

Asher's first photo shoot was offered for free by a local photographer who wanted to gift the family photos of all his milestones.

His mum says he was "born to be in front of the camera" and that she knew "he was destined to be great and do great things".

Asher, who lives with his mum and dad as well as eight-year-old sister Addison in Buford, Georgia, has since been asked to model with a number of brands including Toys "R" Us.

His mum, who shares updates about him on social media says she hopes he continues to work with Down's Syndrome organisations to "spread awareness and end the many misconceptions" people have.
