Frenchman Samir Nasri says Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola banned the players from having sex after midnight.

Nasri is currently on loan at Sevilla having failed to impress the new City manager over the summer.

Speaking to L'Equipe du Soir, the former Arsenal man made the claims about Guardiola desire for players to not have sex after midnight to ensure better performances on the pitch.

"On a free day he says, 'Those who want to have relations, it's before midnight because you must have a good night's sleep'," Nasri was quoted as saying of the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.

"He did that with (Barcelona forward Lionel) Messi, who since then was not injured muscularly, and (Bayern striker Robert) Lewandowski, whom he had put on the bench at one point, and made him understand certain things."

Much was made of Nasri not reaching Guardiola's very specific weight requirements this summer.

"When I arrived for pre-season, I was told, 'Your weight must be 76kg'. That was my weight when I was at Marseille.

"He suppressed a lot of things in the kitchen. When I came back from vacation, I was a little out of shape, I had four kilos extra. With Guardiola, over 2.5 kilos in excess, you do not train with the group."
