Italian prince killed while cycling in London

An Italian prince has died while cycling in London's Knightsbridge.

Filippo Corsini was killed on Monday after getting caught under the the wheels of a lorry. He was pronounced dead at the scene around half an hour later.

Mr Corsini, who was studying business management in the city, was cycling to Regent's University, which his friends said he did "whatever the weather" when he died.

The 21-year-old was a descendant of an aristocratic family in Florence that dates back to the 16th century who made its fortune in banking.

Among his ancestors are Lorenzo Corsini, who was elected as Pope Clement XII in 1730 and famously commissioned the construction of the Trevi fountain in Rome.

His friends are now organising a protest calling for London Mayor Sadiq Khan's proposed HGV star ratings scheme to be enforced sooner than the 2020 deadline.

Mr Corsini is the eight cyclist to die in London this year.
