Crystal Maze set to return for one-off special

The Crystal Maze is set to return to UK screens more than 20 years after it last aired.

The problem-solving game show will be brought back as part of Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer fundraising event in October.

Early reports suggest former Doctor Who David Tennant will present the special episode, replacing original host Richard O'Brien and Ed Tudor-Pole - who took over the flamboyant role for the last two series.

The classic show aired from 1990-1995 and saw contestants take part in various mental and physical challenges though four zones - Aztec, Industrial, Futuristic and Medieval - in order to win 'time crystals'.

At the height of its success, up to six million people tuned in to watch.
