A one-hour EasyJet flight from London to Belfast was delayed for around 90 minutes - because two members of the cabin crew had a heated row over unpacking the water bottles.

The extraordinary episode was witnessed by former tennis player and TV presenter Dan Lobb, who took to Twitter to voice his disbelief at what had happened.

The two crew members were booted off the plane after the row escalated, with EasyJet bosses later saying the delay was essential in the interests of "passenger safety".

Regailing his followers with the latest developments, Lobb wrote: "This is quite incredible. We've all worked with people we don't get on with right? But this tiff means a one-hour flight is delayed!

"They just don't like each other... A disagreement over unwrapping water bottles or something."

He said the captain had confirmed the reason why the flight was delayed, and the plane finally took off from Gatwick once two new crew members had been brought on board - landing an hour and a half later than scheduled.

In response, an EasyJet rep said the safety of passengers was the firm's "highest priority".

"To deliver, our cabin crew need to be able to work as a team," they added."Team spirit and teamwork is crucial for all crews, plus it's also essential to be focused on our passengers."
