Man killed after being swept into sea in Cornwall named

A man who died after being swept out to sea in Cornwall on Saturday has been named online as Rudy Bruynius.

He is reported to have been with his wife Lisinda and their three children when they were hit by a large wave at Fistral Beach, in Newquay, on Saturday.

Mr Bruynius' wife is said to have sustained minor injuries, while their young daughter, who was recovered from the sea by an RNLI lifeboat, is reported to be in a critical condition.

Two other children in the family managed to scramble back on to the rocks, the RNLI said.

More than £10,000 is said to have been raised for the family.

Family friend Madelein Jansen Van Noordwyk posted a message on behalf Mr Bruynius's wife Lisinda, which said: "Thank you all so much for your prayers!!!"

Meanwhile, a woman in her thirties also died after being rescued off the coast of Jersey on Saturday.

A swimmer in Dorset also died after getting into trouble in a rip current.
