What happens to Larry the cat when Cameron leaves Number 10?
As a day of political turmoil draws to a close there remains one key question to be answered - what happens to Larry the cat when David Cameron moves out of No 10 on Wednesday?
Twitter users have been anxiously asking about the fate of the household's chief mouser when Theresa May moves in as the new prime minister.
Larry holds a formal role in government as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office - tasked with keeping pesky vermin at bay.
He was recruited in 2011 from Battersea Cats home, who vouched for his mousing skills.
He spends his days "greeting guests to the house, inspecting security defences and testing antique furniture for napping quality," according to his official profile on the No 10 web page.
Next-door neighbour George Osborne also has an official mouser, called Freya.
The two have had their clashes culminating in a fight on the steps of No 10 in 2012.
A spokesman for the Cabinet Office confirmed that Larry technically belongs to the staff at Number 10, not the Camerons, so he doesn't need to start packing his suitcase.
Sadly Larry has so far been unavailable for comment on the upheaval of a new housemate awaiting him on Wednesday.
However, a spoof Twitter account gave some clue as to what he might be feeling tonight:
