Baby elephant rescued after falling down drain

A baby elephant was rescued from an uncovered drain in Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The calf appeared to have fallen into the drain in the southern port city of Hambantotoa, a region known for the hundreds of wild elephants that roam freely.

Port workers teamed up with wildlife officials to break open more of the drain, and reach inside to rescue the animal.

The elephant was put onto a vehicle and taken away for medical treatment, believed to be a suspected broken leg.
