Newcastle and Norwich have been relegated to the Championship after Sunderland’s 3-0 victory over Everton at the Stadium of Light.

The result leaves Sunderland four points clear of their Premier League rivals with just three left to play for on Sunday.

Norwich needed a victory at Carrow Road to go into the final match of the season with any chance of avoiding the drop, and Alex Neil’s side fulfilled their part with an impressive 4-2 comeback win over Watford.

But they were also banking on Sunderland to drop points and the Black Cats were far too strong for a poor Everton side in front of their jubilant home supporters.

Sunderland’s north-east rivals Newcastle, who were not in action on Wednesday night, will also go into the final game of the season knowing their fight against relegation is over.
