Three-year-old dies after collapsing at theme park while on day out
A three-year-old boy has died after collapsing at a Nottinghamshire theme park.
The boy collapsed at the Wheelgate Park, a 40-acre family park in Farnsfield, and was airlifted to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
There is no suggestion his death is linked to the theme park.
The Wheelgate Park was closed on Monday as a mark of respect to the boy's family, the park's management said.
In a post on the park's Facebook page, management and staff extend their deepest sympathies to the family of the boy.
The three-year-old was taken ill suddenly while visiting the park on Sunday.
The emergencies services were called and he child was attended by the park's first aid team and an off-duty nurse.
A report in the Nottingham Post quoted a local resident as saying: "We just heard there was an incident involving a three-year-old, we didn't know what had happened but there were quite a lot of ambulances, the air ambulance arrived and took the child away."
Police confirmed the death of the three-year-old.
