'Dangerous' schizophrenic absconds from mental health unit
Police have issued a warning to the public after a "violent and dangerous" schizophrenic absconded from a mental health unit.
Cornell Destouche, 25, fled a minicab during a period of escorted leave from a hospital in Hackney, north east London.
The public have been warned not to approach Mr Destouche and to call 999 immediately if he is spotted.
Mr Destouche was last spotted on April 10 when he left the taxi in Walthamstow.
"Extensive efforts are being made to trace Cornell Destouche", said Detective Inspector Paul Ridley.
"He has a history of violence and could pose a threat if confronted. If you see him please do not approach or challenge him but dial 999 immediately".
Mr Destouche is described as black, 5ft 11in tall (1.8m), of medium build, with braided hair and a black beard.
CCTV footage from the day he disappeared showed him wearing a black and grey T-shirt, blue jacket, blue jeans and navy trainers. He was also carrying a grey rucksack.
