Olivia Inglis: Equestrian star, 17, crushed to death by beloved horse as parents watched from stands

A teenage equestrian star has been crushed to death by her beloved horse.

Olivia Inglis, 17, who was from one of Australia's most famous racing families, died when her horse Coriolanus fell during a jump and landed on her during an event in New South Wales on Sunday.

Her parents, Arthur and Charlotte, watched in horror from the stands as paramedics rushed to their eldest daughter's aid.

They were unable to save her.

People around the world are paying tribute to Olivia by sharing photos of themselves with their horses and using the hashtag #RideForOlivia.

Olivia's family said they have been "overwhelmed" by the messages of support and number of tributes to their daughter.

"We are so proud of Olivia and the beautiful young woman she was in every way."

The family also confirmed that Olivia's horse had been put down after suffering a fracture in his neck in the fall.

Olivia's funeral will be held on Monday.
