Robot Wars is coming back

It's the news everybody has been waiting for - Robot Wars is back.

The iconic 90s show, which saw amateur-built robots fighting in front of a live audience, will return to BBC Two at an unconfirmed date.

The six-part series will feature "more robots, more battles and more science than ever before" at a new purpose-built fighting arena in Glasgow.

Millions tuned in to see the machines battle for supremacy when it aired on the BBC from 1998 until 2001 before it moved to Channel 5 for a final series in 2003.

"The new series includes a raft of technological advances since the show first aired over a decade ago," the BBC said in a statement.

"Viewers can expect to see more innovative fighting machines as teams of amateur roboteers battle it out to win the coveted Robot Wars title.

There has been no confirmation whether Craig Charles will return as the show's host.
