'Oops, guess we got a little too excited there' - Firms send out Happy New Year tweets 24 hours early
A string of companies were left red-faced after sending out Happy New Year tweets a day early.
Tourist attractions Tower Bridge and Nottingham Castle were among those who welcomed in 2016 24 hours early.
Users on Twitter were quick to jump on the error - which appeared to come about after scheduled posts were set to go live at midnight on December 31 instead of January 1.
Tower Bridge was among the first to swiftly apologise, tweeting: "Oops guess we got a little too excited there..."
Bottled water supplier Highland Spring was also among the firms "breaking out the bubbles" early.
Witty responses on Twitter included: "Go home Highland Spring. You're drunk" and "I'm assuming @TowerBridge is at this party too."
Others to fall foul of the error included the Irish Computer Society, the UK arm of pizza firm Papa John's and Pride of Britain Hotels.
