Storm Desmond: Weather warnings remain in place

Flood waters are expected to reach their peak on Sunday morning as disruption caused by Storm Desmond continues to cause severe disruption in northern England and Scotland.

More than 1,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in parts of Cumbria and Scotland and thousands of people are without power after a major substation flooded.

The Met Office has issued 56 severe flood warnings for the following regions:

  • Greta Street and Penrith Road at Keswick

  • Keswick Campsite

  • River Eamont at Eamont Bridge, Kemplay Foot, Skirsgill Lane and Southwaite Green Mill
