Pregnant woman asked 'where's the baby?' in Tube seat row
A pregnant woman has said she was left "shocked" and "really, really embarrassed" after a London commuter told her to prove she was expecting in an angry dispute over a seat on the Tube.
Raayan Zafar, 32, said when she showed her "baby on board" badge the man in his 40s asked her "where is the baby?"
The mother-of-one, from Tooting, south London, told the Evening Standard the confrontation occurred after she requested another man give up his priority seat during her morning commute.
Ms Zafar said her pregnancy was in the early stages but she has already been taking medication for severe morning sickness.
She said she believed the incident, which happened last Wednesday on the Victoria line near the Stockwell stop, showed "as a nation we are losing our etiquette".
Launched 10 years ago, the baby of board badge was famously worn by the Duchess of Cambridge during her pregnancy with Prince George.
The badge was issued to help avoid confrontations over priority seats involving pregnant women, though no medical proof is needed to request the badge online.
