A US supermarket has pulled "offensive" Halloween costumes following an outcry on social media - but the costumes are still on sale in the UK.

Walmart, the US owners of Asda, withdrew its controversial "Israeli soldier costume for kids" and a "Sheikh Fagin nose" that were being sold as Halloween costumes after an outcry on social media.

However, the items are still being sold on Amazon.

The decision by Walmart to remove the costumes from sale followed an intervention by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, which said that the prosthetic nose would be used in “racist anti-Arab costumes.”

Many social media users also reacted angrily to the Israeli soldier costume for children being sold amid deadly violence between Palestine and Israel.

The £29.99 outfit is modelled by a young boy pictured with a toy gun.

Walmart has not commented on the withdrawal of the costumes.

The latex nose is being sold for £6.80 by the Horror Shop on amazon.co.uk but omits the reference to Charles Dickens' Jewish villain Fagin and appears under the name the “Sultan Nose.”

ITV News has contacted amazon.co.uk for comment.
