A devoted Ukip fan had Nigel Farage's face tattooed on her arm

A devoted Ukip supporter has had a portrait of Nigel Farage tattooed on her arm.

Kerrie Webb, 38, from Chesterfield, told ITV News that the party's leader was a "national hero".

Her tattoo caused quite the stir on the first day of the party's annual conference in Doncaster - prompting the man himself to sign Kerrie's arm.

"What on earth possessed you to do this to yourself?" Mr Farage is heard asking a star-struck Ms Webb.

The politician - who failed in his bid to become an MP in May's general election - admitted he was "flattered" by the gesture.

He then invited the 38-year-old to his room on the fourth floor at Doncaster racecourse so they could "get away from all the press".

Asked what was behind her decision to have a tattoo of Mr Farage's face, she said: "I feel very passionately about what he stands for and how he is going to change Britain, especially things like the NHS and making young people feel like they have got a chance to have a future again."

Ms Webb said she felt a "bit embarrassed" about the prospect of meeting Mr Farage.

"But very pleased, of course, because he's my hero."
