Two seriously injured as explosion destroys home

A house has been completely destroyed by a massive explosion which left two people seriously injured.

As many as nine homes were damaged by the blast, which leveled most of the house in Texas, USA.

A woman and her brother were trapped inside and called for help after miraculously surviving the explosion.

They were pulled to safety from the Waxahachie property and airlifted to hospital for treatment to severe burns.

Residents in the area said the explosion shook their homes and sounded like a bomb.

JoAnn Williams told NBC: "You heard the explosion, the ground shook, smoke and debris was flying everywhere across the street. It was over in a matter of two, three, maybe four seconds."

Authorities were investigating whether a gas leak could have caused the explosion.
