Donald Trump stumped by audience member's anti-Muslim question
Donald Trump appeared stumped at his latest presidential campaign rally after a voter asked him when America can "get rid" of Muslims.
The Republican candidate, who was speaking in Rochester, New Hampshire, briefly paused after being asked the controversial question before saying "we’re going to be looking at that."
The unidentified man, who put the first question to Trump after he opened up the floor to the audience, said: “We have training camps growing where they want to kill us.
“That’s my question, when can we get rid of them?”
Instead of diverting the question or calling up the questioner on his anti-Muslim stance, Trump replied: “We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things."
The same man, known only as a resident of White Plains, New Hampshire, also referred to the current US President Barack Obama as a Muslim during his time in the spotlight, a comment which Trump also failed to correct.
Mr Obama is in fact Christian and was born in Hawaii, despite claims to the contrary by many, including Mr Trump, in the past.
The audience member said: “We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one.”
The comment was laughed off, but not corrected, by Trump, who was subsequently criticised on Twitter by his opponent Hillary Clinton for his failure to denounce "hateful rhetoric".
Trump's reaction was a stark contrast to the reaction that was given by presidential nominee John McCain who faced a similar question during his campaign in 2010.
