Pigeon caught smuggling cocaine into prison
A carrier pigeon has been caught carrying drugs into a prison complex in Costa Rica.
Guards at La Reforma Penitentia in San Jose noticed the bird flying overhead with a small bundle attached to it.
It turned out to be a pouch containing 14 grams of cocaine and 14 grams of cannabis.
The director of Penitentiary Police, Paul Bertozzi, said: "We have a warning that this method can be used again as it is not the first time in the history of La Reforma that a pigeon was detected with drugs."
