Which EU country has the most asylum seekers?
The government is under mounting pressure to resolve the Calais migrant crisis - but compared to other countries it deals with far fewer asylum applications.
The UK actually ranks 7th out of 28 EU member states, the latest figures show.
Germany topped the table with 97, 640 new applications between January and April this year.
This was followed by Hungary, France, Italy, Sweden and Austria.

The UK received 9,285 applications between the same period - less than a tenth of the amount in Germany.
Such are the numbers, it has been reported the German Army have been called in to help cope.
How many asylum applications were approved?
In 2014, the UK received a total of 31,945 applications - of which 44% were approved.
The largest number of applications came from Eritrea, Pakistan and Syria.
Home Office figures from March 2014 to March 2015 show 85% of Eritrean and Syrian requests were granted compared with 22% of Pakistani nationals.

The countries with the lowest number of applications were Croatia, Slovenia and Slovakia, while Iceland recorded zero applications.
