Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible outfit goes under the hammer

It is one of the most famous scenes in modern movie history and now film fans can bid for the outfit worn by Tom Cruisewhen his character was suspended from the ceiling in an audacious heist in Mission: Impossible.

The costume, including a rubber headpiece, glasses, gloves and black jacket, T-shirt, trousers and boots, is expected to fetch around £7,000 at auction.

It was worn by Cruise's character Ethan Hunt in the first Mission: Impossible film when he broke into CIA headquarters and dodged an elaborate alarm system to steal a list of secret agents.

Cruise, who is famous for filming his own stunts, has starred in five Mission: Impossible films, with the latest - Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation - out this week.

The suspension suit is going under the hammer at Christie's in South Kensington, London, on September 10 as part of its annual Out Of The Ordinary auction.

The auction house, in Old Brompton Road, will open its doors on Monday August 3 ahead of the sale to give the people a glimpse at some of the lots, which also include the running shoes worn by Roger Bannister when he ran the first sub-four-minute mile in 1954.

The movie reunites Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Jeremy Renner as William Brandt, and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell.

According to promotional material in Rogue Nation, Agent Hunt and the team will take on their most impossible mission yet involving the threat from an anti-Impossible Missions Force.

The film will be released in the UK on 31st July.
