When a 10-year-old Daniel Radcliffe was first chosen to play Harry Potter he admitted that had read "the least of Harry Potter in my class" to the amusement of reporters.

Thousands of hopeful young girls have been queuing to take part in open auditions for the Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Warner Bros Pictures are searching for a girl aged between eight and 12 to play the character of Modesty in the new film.

The auditions began at 9am at London's Excel Centre, with about 20,000 hopefuls eventually queuing to audition for the role, each perhaps hoping that they will be catapulted to stardom like Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The successful candidate will have to be ready to film between August and January.

The producers have already cast the major character in the film, among them Eddie Redmayne who will play Magizoologist Newt Scamander.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is set 70 years prior to the Harry Potter stories.

JK Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series, who has written the screenplay to the new film, has said that the new film is an extension to the Harry Potter world, rather than a prequel to the series.

The film is due for release in November 2016.
