People trapped in their homes as flooding hits Scotland
People have been left trapped in their homes and roads have become unusable as heavy rain and flooding cause chaos across Scotland.
Around 90 people have been evacuated from their homes in Alyth in Perthshire, where flooding has caused power cuts and surging floodwater has submerged vehicles.
Fire crews were dispatched to Alyth after the first reports of flooding on Springbank Road, Bridge Street and Market Square came in at 7.30am.
Crews also attended reports of flooding in Perth, Blairgowrie, Gles Isla and Coupar Angus.
The Met Office has issued a "be aware" warning for Tayside, Perth, Grampian, the Highlands and Islands, central and western Scotland and environment agency Sepa said heavy flooding is expected in Tayside.
At lunchtime energy supplier Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution reported that around 750 homes were still without power, after a bridge over the Alyth Burn that carried power cables was washed away.
Play was temporarily suspended at St Andrews' Open Championship after rain flooded the course this morning.
Police Scotland have also warned motorists to take care on the roads after the M9, A90 and M90 were particularly badly hit by the rainfall.
The A82 Inverness to Drumnadrochit route was left partly blocked by a mudslide.
