Pregnant woman loses baby after brutal assault on Peckham street
A heavily pregnant 21-year-old woman lost her baby after being kicked and stamped repeatedly in the stomach in a brutal assault.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after victim - who was 32 weeks pregnant - was attacked by two men wearing motorcycle helmets, on a street in Peckham, south-east London on Monday night.
The woman remains in a critical condition in intensive care.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack and remains in police custody.
The woman was walking down Talfourd Place at around 8pm when she was approached by two men wearing motorbike crash helmets.
They pushed her to the ground and continually kicked and stamped on her stomach before running off, still wearing the crash helmets.
A member of the public called police who administered first aid at the scene before the woman was taken to hospital where it was confirmed she had lost her baby.
The suspects are described as being black and aged in their 20s.
