Glastonbury Festival: Who could replace the Foo Fighters as Friday night headliner?

Following the news that Dave Grohl's leg break means that the Foo Fighters have had to cancel a string of European tour dates, including Glastonbury, speculation is now rife as to who will replace the veteran rockers.

Jessica Bridge, from bookmakers Ladbrokes says that Florence and the Machine are favourites for the call up, but there are others options should Micheal Eavis be willing to get the cheque book out.

Florence and the Machine (Odds: 5/6)

Florence were due to perform before Foo Fighters on the Friday. She has just been number one in the UK and US with her fourth album and is one of the UK's best live performers. Florence taking the step up is the simplest choice.

Festival organiser Emily Eavis said in an interview recently that Florence "could easily be" a headline act.

Blur (Odds: 6/1)

Damon and gang last headlined in 2009 and are crowd pleasers who are huge fans of Worthy Farm. They are playing in Hyde Park this weekend - but crucially are free over Glastonbury.

Oasis (Odds: 33/1)

Oasis reforming and playing Glastonbury this year would be nothing short of a miracle, given the tensions between the Gallagher brothers.

Noel's latest project, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are more likely, according to the bookies (10/1).

Taylor Swift (Odds: 14/1)

She may not go down too well with Foo Fighters fans, but Taylor will be on a mini UK tour and appears to have a clear spot in her diary on 26th June. If Beyonce can do it, so can T-Swift.

Perhaps it's time for a more electronic sound on the Friday night? Norman Cook is on site already over the weekend so Brighton's finest could easily step up to the Friday slot.

The rock legends would make natural replacements and will be between dates on their European tour. Speaking about Glastonbury last December on the BBC, guitarist Angus Young said: "If they ask… Okay."

One Direction (Odds: 50/1)

With odds these long, it's probably worth a tenner, but the popstars would likely be a harmony too far for even the most chilled out Glastonbury crowd.

Kylie Minogue (Odds: 12/1)

Kylie is playing across the UK this June and it's 10 years since she had to pull out of her headline slot. Could pop's pint sized princess pull it off?

Fleetwood Mac (Odds: 2/1)

An outside choice. The Mac are playing the O2 Arena in London that Friday and it is extemely unlikely that they would ditch their devoted fans to fill-in for the Foos.

However, they are one of Micheal Eavis' favourite bands - could he make Stevie Nicks and co an offer they can't refuse?
