Recently-relegated QPR have moved to deny reports midfielder Sandro was deported from the country for not having a work permit.

The Sun claimed the Brazilian was forced to leave the country after not possessing the necessary paperwork to work in England.

Sandro managed 17 appearances for QPR before the issue was pointed out to the club by the Home Office.

The Championship club say the midfielder is merely on holiday, as opposed to being forcibly removed from the country.

It is believed the club never got a work permit for the South American after signing him for £10million from Spurs in September 2014.

A QPR statement said: "Whilst the club is in dialogue with the Home Office in a bid to resolve the matter, it is not in a position to comment further at this time.

"However, the club can clarify that Sandro is currently on holiday in Brazil - but wasn't deported as suggested in the article."

Sandro does qualify for a work permit and the club seem hopeful of rectifying the matter over the summer.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Clubs that benefit from the immigration system must ensure they have robust compliance systems in place or risk losing their privilege to sponsor players.

“We take action where we find evidence that compliance duties are not being fulfilled.”
