Animal loving American Chuck Blazer became football's 'Mr 10 per cent' at the corrupt centre of Fifa.

Starting out as a father supporting his son playing football in America in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Blazer spotted the opportunity to make money from this expanding sport.

Blazer quickly moved himself into the the US Soccer Federation hierarchy, eventually becoming a vice-president within the organisation in 1984, following an endorsement from Pele.

Since then Blazer has maintained a considerable amount of sway in the game, aided by the fact he worked closely with the controversial Jack Warner at Concacaf, which runs football in North America, Central American and Caribbean.

This also allowed him to sit of the Fifa Executive Committee from 1997 to 2013, inflating his power.

Upon Warner appointing Blazer as general secretary, the American earned the nickname 'Mr 10 per cent', because his company would earn that amount from every sponsorship and TV rights deal they signed.

From 1996 to 2011, Blazer made $15.3million in commission from various deals involving Concacaf, according to US court documents.

This income, along with his desire to not pay tax, allowed Blazer to fund a lavish lifestyle, which includes two flats in New York's exclusive Trump Towers - one for him and his partner and one, reportedly, for his cats.

Blazer was also known for carrying a parrot on his shoulder in public from time to time.

US tax authorities found Blazer had not paid tax in 18 years, aided by he fact all the money he garnered was paid into offshore accounts.

After a spell as a 'whistleblower', causing Warner's downfall at Fifa, Blazer was forced to resign him in 2013, after allegation that he has defrauded Concacaf.

It is alleged Blazer aided the FBI with their Fifa investigation, meeting with a series of officials from the organisation, which were reportedly recorded by the American authorities.

Blazer, who is reportedly suffering from colon cancer, pleaded guilty to ten charges including racketeering, wire fraud, tax evasion, and money laundering in November.
