Lorry crash spills precious load of £1 million in cash
Armed police were called to guard a crash scene today after a lorry spilled more than a £1 million in cash across a road.
Witnesses said that crates laden with bags of cash and coins spilled out into the road after the lorry broke suddenly as it approached a roundabout in Swindon, Wiltshire.
The precious load, reportedly worth more than seven figures, was guarded by armed police as traffic was diverted.
Sergeant Gemma Vinton said that firearms officers were in attendance due to the threat of theft.
