Liberal Democrat manifesto: Key pledges
The Liberal Democrats pledged to increase funding for education from "cradle to college" as they launched their election manifesto.
Nick Clegg told an audience in Battersea that "opportunity for everyone" was at the heart of his party's manifesto, which titled "Stronger Economy. Fairer Society. Opportunity for Everyone".
The five key policies seen on its front page are:
An extra £2.5 billion for England's education budget
The Lib Dems guarantee education funding from nursery to 19 years old and qualified teachers in every class.
A promise to cut people's taxes by an additional £400 a year by raising the Personal Allowance to £12,000
"Only the Lib Dems in government will make sure we deliver fair taxes for everyone," Nick Clegg said.
Balancing the budget fairly and investing to build a high-skill, low-carbon economy
The Lib Dems say they will finish the job of "balancing Britain's books" by April 2018.
The manifesto also promises a new supplementary Corporation Tax on the banking sector.
A pledge to protect nature and fight climate change with five green laws
The Lib Dem manifesto promises that renewable energy will make up over a third of the UK's electricity by 2020 if they are in government after the election on May 7.
The party also promises to cut council tax for green homes by at least £100 a year for 10 years
Investing £8 billion in the NHS in England with extra funding for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
Clegg stressed that mental health care would be a priority, with a pledge of £500 a year "to transform" care with waiting time standards.
A package of support for carers including a "Carer's Bonus" every year has also been promised.
