Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho: Eden Hazard is the player of the season 'by far'
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho asserts that his playmaker Eden Hazard is “by far” the best player in the Premier League this season and believes there can be no other choice for the winner of the PFA Player of the Year award.
The award was last won by a Chelsea player in 2005, when John Terry won in the same season he captained the Blues to their first league title in 50 years.
"With what he's doing, speaking in a very honest way, it shouldn't even be a debate," Mourinho said about Hazard in his weekly press conference.
"If somebody throws other names on the table, it's because they want to sell papers, to throw sand into people's eyes. This player is by far the best player of this season."
The bookmakers agree with Mourinho, as they all rate the Belgian star as odds-on favourite to claim the award, clearly ahead of second favourite, Spurs goal machine Harry Kane.
