David Cameron is Britain's most politically influential person on social media, beating Russell Brand into second place, according to new research.

London Mayor Boris Johnson came third in the study of 800 leading politicians and commentators.

Labour leader Ed Miliband ranked fourth in the study by social advertising agency Telegraph Hill, followed the SNP leader and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Chris Moon, head of insights and analytics at the firm, said influence over the electorate "is more important than ever" with the General Election looming.
