'Just kill yourself': Kids Read Mean Tweets in new anti-cyberbullying campaign

Racist, sexist, and mocking messages sent to children and teenagers - and even some encouraging suicide - have been read out in a new video to highlight the dangers of cyberbullying.

The clip features young actors and actresses reading out nasty online barbs sent to victims, in the style of the 'Celebrities Read Mean Tweets' segment of US TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

While the feature is usually touted as a funny sidebar on the show, the Canadian Safer Schools Network - which is behind the campaign - said it highlights a deeper problem.

The video starts out with a laughter track as teenagers read out the insulting messages, but the laughter soon fades as the messages continue.

The Network has also launched a crowd-funding appeal alongside the video with the hope of raising $10,000 (£5,323) to fund a national advertising campaign.
