Supporter of radical preacher spared jail for grooming girl
A supporter of radical preacher Anjem Choudary has avoided a jail term after admitting grooming a 15-year-old schoolgirl on Facebook.
Mansoor Miah invited the teenager to meet him for sex in a hotel and sent her pornographic photographs of himself.
The 22-year-old also asked the girl to watch him on a webcam.
The court heard the girl used a fake Facebook account on a handheld Nintendo DS device.
Miah, who previously admitted attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, was handed a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for two years at Southwark Crown Court.
The activity was discovered by the girl's mother, who alerted police.
Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith told Miah, of Kilburn, north west London: "A suspended sentence is appropriate.
"A prison sentence to mark the seriousness of what you did, and a course of treatment to ensure it doesn't happen again and to protect young girls."
