Dramatic moment journalist is robbed at gunpoint seconds before going live on air
Dramatic footage showing the moment a journalist was robbed at gunpoint just seconds before going live on air has emerged.
Vuyo Mvoko, a reporter for South African broadcaster SABC News, was about to deliver a live report from outside Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg when he was confronted by two men, who can be seen grabbing for his pockets.
Another TV worker is heard saying: "We're being mugged, we're being mugged."
The robbers appear unaware that they are being filmed by the rolling cameras.
Describing the "terrifying" ordeal, Mvoko said: "I was literally seconds from going on air.
"When I wasn't giving him the phone, he calls the other one who has a gun."
He recalled how his colleague told him to immediately hand over his phone, before the suspects fled with numerous electrical goods.
Police are investigating the incident, he added.
