Ed Miliband to pledge longer home visits for elderly under 10-year NHS plan
Ed Miliband will announce proposals for longer home visits for vulnerable elderly patients under Labour's "10-year plan" for the NHS, which he says is facing "its most perilous moment in a generation".
The Labour leader will announce plans to provide longer home visits for vulnerable elderly patients in a bid to cut hospital admissions.
Mr Miliband will also pledge to recruit up to 5,000 new home care workers to support people leaving hospital and to enable the terminally-ill to die at home.
Labour has promised to invest an extra £2.5 billion in the NHS under plans to recruit 20,000 more nurses, 8,000 GPs, to provide cancer tests within a week and guarantee GP appointments within 48 hours.
Mr Miliband is expected to warn that the future of the health service "is at stake" in May's general election, which is 100 days away.
