Football fans get chance to join a choir singing the traditional Abide With Me before FA Cup Final at Wembley
Fans of the Beautiful Game are being offered the chance to join a choir singing the traditional Abide With Me before this year's FA Cup Final at Wembley.
The BBC's Songs Of Praise is planning to put together a choir with one football fan representing each of the 64 teams which made it to the third round of the competition.
Fans are being urged to give their personal memories, such as witnessing a giant killing or watching a non-league team compete against higher opposition, with a panel of judges choosing the best stories.Singing lessons will be given, and a rehearsal will be held before the final in May.Abide With Me was first sung at the FA Cup Final in 1927 and has been a constant feature ever since at soccer's showpiece game.
The Songs Of Praise FA Cup Fans Choir will be accompanied by a military band, and will belt out the song in front of 90,000 fans.A number of non-league teams made it to this year's third round of the FA Cup, including Wrexham, from the "land of song" - Wales.:: Entries open today at bbc.co.uk/songsofpraise
