Video 'shows terrorist Amedy Coulibaly pledging allegiance to Islamic State' ahead of deli attack
A video has been posted online which appears to show gunman Amedy Coulibaly, shot dead by police after a siege at a kosher supermarket in Paris, pledging allegiance to Islamic State.
The video, which refers to Coulibaly by name and calls him a 'Soldier of the Caliphate', was reportedly posted on social networks by the extremist group earlier today.
The 32-year-old was killed after taking 19 people hostage at the HyperCasher deli in Porte de Vincennes on Friday. He was also wanted by police on suspicion of shooting dead policewoman Clarissa Jean-Philippe the previous day.
The footage includes the man, who appears to be Coulibaly, talking about the massacre at the Charlie Hebdo offices on Wednesday as well as his plans to attack a "Jewish grocery store".
The video shows the man performing press-ups and showing off a shocking array of firearms, overlaid with a quote from the Qu'ran which reads:
The video also reveals his Islamic name, Abou Bassir Abdallah al-Ifriqi, and confirms he was the "author of the blessed attack" in which he executed a policewoman in the Montrouge area of Paris.
It then goes on to show him in various locations and in various outfits, answering questions posed on screen.
He pledges allegiance to the "Caliph of the Muslims, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi", and confirms he and brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi - the pair behind the massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo - were "a team".
He then explains the reasons behind his attack on what is labelled "a Jewish grocery store", saying it was "completely legitimate".
The video also claims he planted an explosive charge on the tank of a car which exploded in a street in Paris, but does not go into more detail.
