A mother has expressed her gratitude after a stolen laptop containing the last photos of her daughter was returned to her following an appeal.

Eight-year-old Chloe McCance, of Bangor in County Down, died earlier this month from a rare degenerative illness called Batten's Disease.

Her parents, Lydia McCance and Kevin Rees, were shocked when they returned to the family home on day to find they had been burgled.

Among the items taken was a laptop containing the last photos of Chloe before she died.

Kevin described how the burglars had even rummaged through drawers in Chloe's bedroom, which had remained untouched since her passing away.

Lydia made an emotional appeal on UTV begging for the laptop to be returned:

Last night, Lydia confirmed on Facebook that the laptop was "back in my possession".

She said the response her appeal had generated has restored her faith in other people.

Chloe would have been nine years old next month.
