Coldplay have announced they are working on their seventh and possibly final studio album.

The record is provisionally titled A Head Full of Dreams, lead singer Chris Martin told BBC Radio 1.

Although he did not definitively rule out more Coldplay albums in the future, Martin indicated this could be the band's last release.

Martin also announced that the band would tour to promote the forthcoming album, having not done so for their sixth release, Ghost Stories.

The band are one of the UK's biggest musical success stories, with four number 1 albums in the US, tens of millions of albums sold worldwide and over 1 billion plays on Spotify.

Two of their records - X&Y and A Rush of Blood to the Head - feature in the UK's top 40 best-selling albums of all time.
