The Archbishop of Westminster told ITV News there was something "disproportionate" about the fighting between Israel and Palestine during the summer months of this year.

During the roughly 50 days of conflict more than 2,000 Palestinians and 70 Israelis lost their lives.

Large parts of Gaza City are still in ruins and Cardinal Vincent Nichols called the level of destruction he saw "appalling."

ITV News Middle East Corespondent Geraint Vincent reports:

The Cardinal is on visit to Holy Land and visited a group of nuns who had opened their doors to those made homeless during the conflict and led a service, for the few Catholics in Gaza, this morning.
