The Duchess of Cambridge has made her first public appearance since her pregnancy was announced.

The Duchess appeared relaxed at Buckingham Palace.

Kate, who is just over 12 weeks pregnant, rode in a carriage procession to Buckingham Palace today as part of the state visit by the president of Singapore.

Speaking to the president's wife, the Duchess admitted she has been "looking forward to getting out of the house":

It is the first time William and Kate have taken part in a state visit to this extent.

The Duchess, who has been suffering from severe morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum, has not been seen at an official public engagement since her pregnancy was announced at the start of September.

The baby is due in April.

This morning Kate, along with husband the Duke of Cambridge, will greeted Dr Tan and his wife Mary at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London, on behalf of the Queen.

Royal fans were keen for a glimpse of a baby bump.
