An English-speaking parrot that disappeared four years ago has finally returned to its owner - but now speaks Spanish.

The bird, named Nigel, spoke with a strong British accent before flying the nest.

No-one knows quite where he went, but upon his return Darren Chick - who lives in Torrance, California - was surprised to find him chatting away in a completely different language and mysteriously mentioning the name 'Larry'.

The missing African Grey Parrot was discovered by the owners of Happy Tails Dog Spa after hearing him at their home. the Daily Breeze reports.

She then looked outside only to find it was the bird - and not a person - looking for attention.

After spotting a microchip on him and doing some research, they contacted Chick to bring him home.

Despite biting his former owner on the moment they were reunited, Chick says the pair are now getting along fine.

"He’s doing perfect,” he said a few days later.

“It’s really weird, I knew it was him from minute I saw him.”
