Great British Bake Off contestant cools Baked Alaska 'stitch-up' row
Unfortunate Great British Bake Off contestant Iain Watters has stepped in to cool down a heated Twitter row over an ill-fated Baked Alaska.
He was eliminated from the BBC show after the ice-cream centre of his dessert melted, leading the young baker to throw the remains in the bin and storm off set.
The finger was then pointed at fellow contestant Diana Beard, who was accused by some Twitter users of deliberately sabotaging Iain's effort by taking his pud out of the freezer.
The #justiceforiain hashtag even started trending as disgruntled fans took to the microblogging site.
The 65-year-old wholeheartedly rejected this, however, telling Black Country radio:
Show host Sue Perkins took to Twitter herself to point out there was no way Diana had been responsible for the Alaska's meltdown.
And co-host Paul Hollywood said he had had no choice but to boot Iain off the programme.
Then this morning Iain offered his own support to his former culinary rival.
Not that that stopped Bake Off host Sue Perkins having a bit of fun at Iain's expense.
