Historic landmark to fire-ravaged shell: Eastbourne Pier is devastated by blaze
A devastating fire engulfed Eastbourne Pier yesterday, leaving an empty shell where a historic landmark used to stand.
The blaze, believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, destroyed part of the 144-year-old Grade II-listed structure but no injuries were reported.
Despite firefighters managing to save a section of the attraction, the severity of the damage was evident in pictures captured during and after the blaze.
