Images of dog watching over dead canine friend in China sweep Internet

Pictures of a dog watching over another dog that was killed in a traffic accident over night in the city of Yinchuan in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has become an Internet sensation recently.

On the night of December 22, a little white dog died in the middle of a street after being hit by a car. A brown dog stayed by its side for the entire night despite the temperature falling to -13 C.

Some residents saw this and placed a stool next to them so that passing vehicles would not hit them.

"The drivers must be careful and not hit them. The dog has been here for his friend all night," said an onlooker.

Passersby took pictures and posted them online, drawing the attention of many netizens who later reposted them.Nearby restaurant owners took the dead dog away from the street and buried it under a tree in a city park along the road in the morning.

The brown dog followed them all the way until his friend was buried.
